Kubernetes Clusters by next layer
next layer is your award-winning and trusted provider for Kubernetes cluster solutions in Austria. Our Kubernetes cluster is distributed in three data centers in Vienna, both with high availability and redundancy. We would be happy to advise you on the use and management of the Kubernetes cluster.
Kubernetes is an orchestration platform that automates containers and container applications. That includes provisioning containers and stopping them. As a special feature, scaling can be automated if required. Multiple container applications are started or stopped according to the workload. This technology was first developed by Google and is compatible with various container tools such as Docker.
A Kubernetes cluster is a specific application of Kubernetes technology. In a Kubernetes cluster, containers are provisioned, orchestrated, and distributed across multiple nodes (servers). next layer's Kubernetes cluster is exceptional in that the nodes are spread across three data centers in Vienna.
A node is an individual server defined by vCPU, RAM, and storage. Since the nodes are spread across more than one data center, the container applications within the nodes are also running in different data centers. next layer's Kubernetes cluster consists of at least three nodes and can reach an outstanding availability of 99.99%. The more resources an application needs, the more nodes can be added to a cluster.
Traditionally, applications run on virtual machines. Physical servers have an operating system (OS) as well as a hypervisor installed, which in turn simulates virtual machines. The virtual machine runs an operating system and runtime environments (library) for each app. It is necessary to maintain both the server's operating system and the operating system inside the virtual machine during updates and upgrades. Upgrading the libraries on each machine can be difficult and time- consuming.
Modern container solutions, on the other hand, run small containers (e.g., Docker) that contain just the essential libraries and the app instead of virtual machines. If the app needs more resources (due to increased usage), multiple containers with the same app can be run. When you use Kubernetes for orchestration, this can be done automatically, depending on the workload.
A Kubernetes cluster is always made up of one master node and several worker nodes. The master node oversees capacity and availability for all worker nodes. As soon as an app needs more resources, Kubernetes starts additional containers in a node and stops them as soon as they are no longer needed. The master node monitors and controls the load across all available nodes in the cluster, regardless of where (in which data centers) those nodes are located.
Software Developers
Developers can autonomously deploy, modify, or delete containers in which the application runs. Developing and rolling out new applications becomes easier and faster. You can continuously roll out new versions of your applications and shorten innovation cycles with a CI/CD environment based on Managed Kubernetes.
IT Infrastructure Operators
We help you run the right infrastructure for your container applications. With Managed Kubernetes, you can quickly and easily allocate or adapt resources. Thanks to having the Kubernetes cluster divided between two data centers in Austria, your services are highly available and exceptionally secure.
Kubernetes Operations
We are happy to handle both full operational management and capacity management, leaving you free to focus on your core business and your software's operation. We are Austrian Cloud and ISO 27001 certified, and several of our employees are ITIL certified. We guarantee the secure and professional operation of your applications.
Our Kubernetes Services
next layer's Kubernetes cluster is highly available thanks to at least three nodes run in different data centers to ensure redundancy. Our Managed Kubernetes cluster simplifies your workflow by automatically managing things for you. You can combine as many master and worker nodes as you wish, according to your individual resource requirements. These nodes feature different hardware configurations, which can focus on RAM-, CPU- or storage, depending on your needs. The worker node resources are used by pods (containers), which you can configure, start, and stop at any time. Persistent storage is available for storing files or databases and is billed based on usage.
We set up the initial configuration and run the Kubernetes environment of master and worker nodes. You have admin rights for your nodes and can autonomously access the cluster via a comprehensive API, such as to provision pods. You also have access to the graphical Kubernetes dashboard to monitor your cluster.
